Why Underhill Medical

In the ancillary services world, inflated pricing has become the norm. Hidden markups. Layered vendor fees. “Market rate” justifications buried inside complicated estimates. And ultimately, the carrier absorbs the cost.

Underhill Medical refuses to operate that way.

Lauren Underhill –
Founder & CEO

Lauren Underhill is an occupational therapist, ATP, and nationally recognized expert in complex seating, mobility, and care coordination. With a foundation in biology and a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Lauren began her career working extensively in durable medical equipment serving Medicare patients, where she refined her clinical precision and deep product expertise.

Her transition into the workers’ compensation space was intentional. The complexity of catastrophic injuries – and the intricate web of stakeholders involved – presented a challenge she was built for. Lauren quickly became known for her ability to navigate high-exposure claims, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and deliver clinically sound solutions that withstand scrutiny.

Over the course of 15 years, Lauren founded and led a highly successful ancillary services company, ultimately exiting after building it into a market leader. After stepping away, she returned to the industry with a clear mission: raise the standard.

Underhill Medical was built to operate differently.

Lauren combines advanced clinical expertise in prosthetics negotiation, high-end DME, home accessibility strategy, and long-term home care coordination with an uncompromising commitment to speed and execution. If a case requires specialized equipment, rare resources, or even a translator in one of 1,000 languages – her team finds it. Immediately.

Her philosophy is rooted in fairness and accountability. She understands the immense workload adjusters and nurse case managers carry, and she structures Underhill Medical to remove friction, reduce delays, and make her partners look like heroes. Transparent pricing, decisive action, and relentless follow-through are non-negotiable.

Lauren does not believe in industry norms built on inflated pricing or slow response times. She believes in ownership. She believes in outcomes. And she believes the injured worker and the carrier both deserve better.

Beyond healthcare, Lauren’s leadership is driven by a deeply personal mission. A significant portion of Underhill Medical’s profits supports Whistlers Run & Rescue, her large-scale rescue farm that provides lifelong sanctuary to more than 60 unwanted farm animals, with a special focus on retired draft horses. What began as a passion has grown into a powerful extension of her belief in advocacy, responsibility, and second chances.

Lauren lives with her husband, Nate, a United Airlines Captain, and their two children, Isla and Drew. Whether leading complex catastrophic claims or caring for rescued animals, her approach remains the same: commit fully, move decisively, and do the right thing – even when it’s harder.

Underhill Medical is not just another ancillary services provider. It is the standard Lauren returned to the industry to set.
